Tip #1: “Timing is everything”
In just a moment, you will get many different methods to know if someone likes you over text.
This is the first one.
But first I’m gonna see if you know what’s going on in this conversation:
Don’t scroll down and cheat.
I want you to try and see for yourself if this girl likes him.
Maybe it’s a clear “yes” or “no” for you.
But the man who sent in this screenshot didn’t know what to make of it.
Have you made your choice?
…
…
…
The answer is a clear YES, she likes him.
I’d advise him to ask her out immediately.
How do I know this for sure?
- She shows a lot of emotion. It’s always a good sign if someone shows you emotion. Even if it’s a bad emotion.
- She wants to belong. She literally says “I’m your buddy too”. You might think that buddies are in the friendzone. But that’s not the case here. You can tell by the following two messages.
- She sends a lot of emojis. More about this later in the article.
- She’s responding quickly.
And the latter is the point that I want to further discuss here.
Take a look at these timestamps:
- When he sends a message at 17:21, she responds at 17:22.
- When he sends a message at 17:22, she responds at 17:23.
- And when he sends a message at 17:29, she responds at 17:29.
Lightning fast.
You may think they’re just chatting in real-time. But that’s not true. When she sent a message at 17:23, he left a few minutes and responded at 17:29.
When someone always answers quickly, you know that person is enjoying the conversation.
If you get a girl’s number, you might be wondering how much time you should wait to send her a message.
Some people say three days, others less. I covered this topic in this article, check it out:

Want another tip to know if she likes you through text?
Here it comes:
Sign #2: Double sign that she likes you over text
One sign you should always look for is how much interest the other person is showing.
(There are other signs but we’ll get to those in a minute)
A WhatsApp or Tinder sign that shows a lot of interest is the double text.
And yes, this also counts for SMS or Facebook Messenger.
We Dutch people just love our WhatsApp. Though it doesn’t matter which platform is being used. It’s ALL text.
Pro tip:
A double text is when someone sends you a message and the last message also came from him / her.
However, it isn’t the same as someone sending multiple messages at once.
There must be a break in between.
Like in this screenshot.
(I blurred out the text for you. It is orc language anyway)
At 23:50 this chick sent a few messages in response to mine.
She sends 4 messages. This does not count as double texting (or quadruple texting). They were sent in one go.
At 3:08 am she sends “finally asleep.” This is a double text because I didn’t answer her previous messages.
A double text is one of the clearest signals someone likes you. If this happens very often, it may even mean that someone is in love with you.
More specifically:
Does she actually think I want to know … that she’s going to sleep?
Of course not.
She’s hoping I’m still awake and will respond. She wants my attention.
She’s definitely interested, but it doesn’t mean she’s going to stay that way forever.

Let’s keep going with another texting example.
Tip #3-4-5: What says more than 1000 words?
Sometimes someone will make it very clear to you that she likes you over text.
For example, that person may send three flirty text signals at once.
Take a look at this screenshot:
So simple and so clear.
How do you know if someone’s in love with you?
Well, this comes close.
Here are the three signals from this example:
- You get a pic. A photo means more than a text. Besides, it’s not like you even asked for a pic.
You also didn’t send a photo yourself. That’s a sign that someone is interested.
- It’s not just any photo. It’s a selfie.
Why does a selfie show more interest than another kind of photo?
A person is showing off in a selfie. The underlying message is:
Or
- You know that someone likes you if he / she messages in the evening.
It’s a clear sign when you get messages at night. And if the person was drunk?
Whether or not drunk text messages matter is a discussion for another time.
Regardless, you should be happy to get messages late at night.
If you know the other person is already in bed, this means that he / she is thinking of you in bed.
How could it be any more obvious!?
We’re going to make a small detour from the signs on WhatsApp. And I’ll show you that the signs are the same on social media.
Tip #6: How you know someone likes you via Instagram
Social media, the latest mania we’re all part of.
You have social media and so does the person you’re messaging.
Whether it is Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, or something else …
… the signals are identical.
How can you tell if someone is attracted to you?
Whether she likes your posts, responds to your stories, or interacts with you in any other way.
With 2 side notes:
- It doesn’t mean much if someone likes your post only once.
- Of course, the type of content you create plays a role.
If you post photos of your dog all the time, the other person might just be crazy about dogs.
But if you got a like the last few times you posted something … then you got a prize.
But if they like stories / videos / photos in which you appear or show the things you do …
… then you know someone likes you over text.
Pay attention to who likes your post when you share something on social media.
Does the person do that time and time again?
Then she shows interest.
Time to return the love.
Maybe you’ve never even talked to her before? Asas the case with me in the screenshot below:
You don’t always have to wait for someone to like your posts a few times in a row
In this case, she liked one picture of me. I returned the favor and sent her some love. Then she liked another picture of me.
Someone who has no interest wouldn’t do that.
I took the initiative to send her a message:
To which she answers:
Bang bang! The conversation just started.
Now if I want the conversation to be interesting, I’m going to need good topics to talk about with her.

Tip #7: A smart trick to see if she likes you through texting
Speaking of unsolicited photos …
Some people use WhatsApp a little smarter than others …
Sending a pic immediately shows a lot of interest.
But how can you be seen WITHOUT having to send a photo?
I’ll give you this easy hack.
You can make clever use of your profile pic.
When you notice that someone changes his or her profile pic while you are talking …
… then that is a sign that she likes you.
(unless that person changes it for someone else she is chatting with at the same time 😉 )
I use this trick myself every once in a while.
In the screenshot below I change my profile pic because I know she is online.
That’s it:
- Get her extra attracted with your 10/10 photo
- Give her a reason to start or resume the conversation with you
Sneaky.
Do you know another very clear sign that someone likes you over text?
This:
Tip #8: The principle of investment
It is fairly obvious, but I’m going to mention it anyways:
When someone sends very long messages, he or she is interested in you. Maybe even in love if you’ve known each other for a while. You’re definitely not in the friendzone.
The longer the message, the more interest.
Ultimately, it’s all about the effort, energy, and time that someone invests in you.
A longer message takes more effort.
Pro tip:
If you are in an enthusiastic mood, make sure that you don’t send messages that are too long. This can be a turn-off.
Take a look at this thesis a woman sent me on Tinder.
She eventually realized that she was turning me off with her huge investment. But by then it’s too late.
Here’s the screenshot from Tinder:

Tip #9: How you know someone likes you: More = Better
It shows more interest if someone sends very long messages.
Clearly. And you probably know it. Also research has shown it.
But the same principle also applies on a smaller scale.
The message itself doesn’t have to be long.
She could just be making her words longer.
And I don’t mean that you should pay attention to the exact length of every word such as “occupational accident insurance”.
It could also be in the form of a letter, syllable, punctuation, or emoji.
This picture should clear things up:
The more y’s, the more interest.
The same goes for “haha“.
I’m sure you’ve been there before. You send a message to a Tinder Match or a crush.
The answer?
That really is super lame.
But what if the answer was:
Less lame, right?
Crazy how that works. But the longer the laugh, the more interest.
Just take a look at this conversation, where 3 out of the 4 examples appear:
- More letters
- More punctuation marks
- More emojis
You’d have to be blind to not see her enthusiasm. The signals are practically slapping you in the face.

Let’s continue
Tip #10: Clear sign of interest over text
As Einstein once said:
And a good start is half of the work, emphasis on half.
This is also true when it comes to chat, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp, and the other lot.
Whoever starts the conversation is the first to invest and show interest.
Very logical of course. You wouldn’t voluntarily start a conversation with someone you don’t like to talk to.
If you notice that someone regularly starts a conversation with you on the app …
… then you can count on this person liking you.
What about if you’re the one initiating the conversation? It can be tricky to start a conversation with a girl online or even on the streets.

We’ll continue with a sign that you won’t receive very often …
Tip #11: A rare flirt signal on WhatsApp
The 11th way to see if she likes you on WhatsApp is very clear.
Clear but rare.
If your crush gives you a NICKNAME on WhatsApp… or any other platform that supports nicknames.
Then you know it’s ON.
Especially if that nickname was just made up.
This is what a student asked me this summer during a seduction bootcamp:
I was able to reassure him right away.
Yeah, this is fine.
For two reasons:
- She has a nickname she made up on her own. That’s investment.
- The nickname is a tease. It refers back to when you were a little kid. Moreover, badminton isn’t the toughest sport on earth. But this is good BECAUSE:
Tip #12: Listen (yet again) to your teacher
Because teasing is asking for kisses.
This is the case in real life and when you send messages.
You only tease someone when you like her.
You want to provoke a reaction.
You want attention from the person you like so much.
Pay attention: is someone teasing you on the app?
Then you can put +1 on the they-find-me-cute-meter.
One of the most common ways to see if someone likes you on WhatsApp is the following:
Tip #13-14: Example app convo
A very easy way to know if she likes you now.
Does she ask a lot of questions?
If the answer is “yes”, then you’re on a roll.
Again: any way someone tries to get your attention is a sign of interest.
Take a look at this screenshot:
Here we immediately see several signs someone likes you:
- She starts the conversation.
- She immediately asks a question.
- “Alps?” After your answer, she immediately asks another question. She wants to keep the conversation going.
- She does her best to show that she understands your world. “Shreddin through some fresh powder eh“. With this she’s saying: “hey, I know something about snowboarding, I am good enough“. She’s qualifying.
- Double text!
- Two questions in a row.
This lady is clearly interested in my snowboarding student.
Tip #15: Does my crush like me? This is how you know
You’re talking to your crush.
He or she is talking to you about … something.
What are you talking about? The subject says a lot about what you want from each other.
When they like someone, men often feel the urge to talk about sexual things. As a woman you can pay attention to that. But beware, he doesn’t necessarily like you. He may just want to sleep with you. He wants your attention, sex, or both.
But when a woman talks about sexual topics, she is attracted to you. There’s a good chance that she has already fantasized about entire scenarios.
In general, you can follow this rule:
The more personal the topic, the more she likes you.
The last sign I’ll give you is one that you can only see when you’re online.
How do you know if she likes you on WhatsApp —Bonus Sign!
Have you ever quickly checked your messages…
… and it just so happens that someone messages you?
Maybe it’s not as coincidental as you think.
The person who sent it might have noticed that you just got online.
And you just get a message when you’re browsing through your texts.
The other person saw that and likes you enough to message back 😉
Bang bang!
How do you know if she likes you through text, you asked?
